Conveyor belts sometimes part during operation with little or no warning. In the event of a fully loaded inclined belt parting during production, the consequences can be catastrophic.

The top strand of the belt can travel backwards to damage plant, machines and be a major hazard to personnel. For this eventuality the KEY 1-WAY roll can be used to retard the belt. The return strange can also travel backwards and cause damage to the belt structure, especially if a Gravity Take-up device is being used and be a danger to personnel.

On the return strange a 1-way roller is ineffective and an alternative device must be used.

The BELT ARRESTOR is designed to be retro-fitted to any conveyor.

Comprising of a sensor hear to detect that the return belt is no longer under tension the ARRESTOR has a self contained power unit that requires NO plant air, hydraulics or electrics.

On sensing that the belt is a run-away, the unit energises the belt clamp to brake and stop the return belt. Two such clamps can be used either side of a G.T.U to stop its fall to the ground.

Virtually maintenance free, a once yearly inspection to test fire the system and re-energise the power pack is all that is required.

The unit is self powered, auto-releasing and re-energises once the belt is rejoined and it is safe to run.
